Covid-19 Emergency, from the European Commission 385 million and a half euros for the Solidarity Fund

The European Commission has contributed 385million euros and a half to the Solidarity Fund (EUSF) set up in 2020 to support 19 countries, including Italy, in the coronavirus health emergency. The EUSF’s support shall finance medical care, the purchase and administration of vaccines, personal protective equipment and medical devices, healthcare costs, laboratory testing, emergency support to the population and measures to prevent, monitor and control the spread of the disease, thereby safeguarding public health. The 385 million made available in recent days are in addition to the 132.7 million euros paid in 2020 to the Member States that had requested an advance of the EUSF. The Fund has 17 Member States (Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Croatia, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Portugal, Romania, Spain and Hungary) and three candidate countries (Albania, Montenegro and Serbia).
