In the first few weeks of 2019 Sardinia was at the center of an intense promotional activity in the European countries considered as reference markets of the island tourism sector, from Germany to Spain and Portugal. On 18 January, "Destination Sardinia" was presented in Portugal to the specialized press, tour operators and travel agents. On February 5, the island was showcased in Berlin. The tourist offer of Sardinia as a whole - culture, food and wine, religious tourism, outdoor and cycling tourism - was presented in some of the most important international trade fairs in the tourism sector in Europe. Events such as the Vakantiebeurs of Utrecht, in the Netherlands, attended by 19 Sardinian operators from the hospitality sector. Leisure activities, individual tourism and family tourism were sponsored at the Caravan Motor Touristik in Stuttgart, Germany, where 23 island operators presented their services.
The offer of tourism dedicated to places of worship and sacred paths in Sardinia has been presented at "Verso un’identità del turismo religioso", the Euro-Mediterranean Symposium held in Assisi, organized by the Italian Bishops' Conference, while the tourist offer of boating and diving was at the center of Dusseldorf’s Boot, with 9 accredited Sardinian operators. The operators of the hospitality sector participated in the Fitur in Madrid and the Fiespo in Zurich. For the first time, the Sardinian operators of cyclotourism participated in the Itinerando in Padua, during which the Sardinian cycle network was presented.
