Thirty Sardinian operators recently flew to London to take part in the 18th edition of the World travel market (WTM), considered one of the main world events in the tourism industry, which took place in the Excel London Exhibition Centre.

The occasion was given by the Regional Tourism, Crafts and Trade Ministry that hosted the owners of accommodation facilities, travel agencies, incoming tour operators, hotel chains, hotel management, consortiums and networks of tourist companies, bus operators, in a stand set up in the European pavilion.

The participation of the Region and the operators was aimed at promoting the Sardinian territory and highlighting the landscape, the environment, culture, traditions and food and wine production.

This year’s event has gathered over 5 thousand exhibitors from 38 sectors of the tourism industry - explains the minster Barbara Argiolas - to which we must add over 11 thousand professionals and about 50 thousand visitors, representing a € 3.5 billion turnover in total". During the WTM the Regional administration showcased "the important projects we are carrying out, in collaboration with local authorities and businesses, ports and airports - added the Regional Minister of Tourism - for instance the newly created hiking network of Sardinia, the cycling trails, those on cultural tourism and archaeological, historical gardens, villages, the mining paths and the religious itineraries, together with the food and wine routes in the territory;  the sea remains central to our tourism offer but it is more and more fundamental that other segments are added to the the offer, in order to be able to become attractors for holidaymakers".
