Saving the Earth from climate change to improve the quality of life:”Life” wants to draw a lesson by the pandemic

The objectives of “LIFE”, the programme designed by the European Commission, include saving the Earth from climate change, improving the quality of life, protecting the environment and the nature, and connecting the projects to solutions that can help managing pandemics like the one the world is facing these days. The European Commission made available 450 million euros to fund Green ideas. The public announcement opened on April 2nd and it will reward the best projects about environment and climate; with a last-minute appeal, the Commission invites all to take seriously into consideration the potential role that their ideas might have in managing epidemics, pandemics and, more generally, for human health. The public announcement, which was already published in recent months, has been slightly modified in these last days accordingly to the Covid-19 emergency. These are the new measures included:

  • All deadlines for reporting are extended of one month.
  • Private entities are no longer required to announce obligations to tender for contract values in excess of EUR 135,000.
  • Projects may provide financial support to small local initiatives contributing to the development of the idea.
  • A special section has been created in order to push bigger companies to serve as potential incubator of start-ups.
  • It is possible to interface with a “LIFE”’s programme expert to assess your project idea.
