The proposal provides for investments in our Country for 3,1 billion euros

The European Commission has approved the programming of the React-EU for 2022 proposed by Italy, which involves investments in our country for about 3.1 billion euros. The document, drawn up by the Ministry for South and Territorial Cohesion, was sent to Brussels in recent weeks and represents the completion of the plan launched last year, with the allocation of the first 11.3 billion euros.

The share of resources owed to Italy has been revised upwards by the EU Commission, for 934 million euros more than initially planned. The total amount reserved for our country by the React-EU plan amounts to about 14.4 billion euros: of these, 9.45 billion are allocated to the South (67.6% of the total, net of expenditure on technical assistance).

Among the investments that have been able to count on more resources there is the one aimed at reducing losses in the water distribution networks in the South: an additional 169 million that will allow to scroll the list of the 2021 call, financing further projects. In addition, an additional 200 million euros for the Guarantee Fund for small and medium-sized enterprises (174 million euros in the South), 100 million euros for green and innovative laboratories in second-cycle schools (46 million euros in the South) and 131 million euros for the digitisation of SMEs in the Centre-North (in 2021 the same intervention had already been addressed exclusively to the South).

On the other hand, there are two totally new measures that will be financed: the renewal of the bus fleets with environmentally compatible means (175 million euros, all in the South) and the creation of innovative educational environments in state kindergartens (159 million euros, of which 73 million euros for Southern Italy.)
