PNRR, the European Commission pays the second 21 billion euros instalment to Italy

The European Commission paid Italy the second instalment of 21 billion euros yesterday, 8 November, for the achievement of the 45 goals and objectives set by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.

The payment of this instalment, which follows the pre-financing of over 24 billion occurred in August 2021 and the payment of the first instalment of 21 billion euros last April, represents a further significant step forward in the implementation of the reforms and investments provided by the NRRP.

The 45 goals and objectives, which have been recognised as having been achieved, relate, among others, to the launch of public administration reforms, public procurement, the teaching profession, tax administration and territorial health care. In addition, investments in key strategic sectors, including ultra-broadband and 5G, research and innovation, tourism and culture, hydrogen development, urban regeneration and the digitisation of schools and the case backlog.
