European Research Area takes shape

On 16 July 2021, with the adoption by the European Commission of the proposal for a Council recommendation for a "Pact for Research and Innovation in Europe", the European Research Area (ERA) began to take shape. The Pact defines priority and shared areas in which EU countries will have to develop common actions in support of the European Research Area. The initiatives of the various Member States should pursue the freedom of scientific research, the socio-economic revival of R&I, gender equality, free access to scientific publications and better career prospects for researchers.
