The European Commission has given Italy the go-ahead for a 750 million euros state aid scheme designed to ensure access to credit for SMEs and mid-caps.

The aid, as explained in the EU Commission note, will take the form of state guarantees to support SMEs and mid-capitalisation companies affected by the energy crisis, in order to ensure that the beneficiaries have access to sufficient financial liquidity.

The aid will be granted until 30 June 2024 and will not exceed 280,000 euros per company active in the primary production of agricultural products, 335,000 euros per company active in the fisheries and aquaculture sectors, and 2 million euros per company active in other sectors.
