The government has introduced new incentives for SMEs in the southern areas, including Sardinia. Adolfo Urso, Minister for Enterprise and Made in Italy, signed the "Sustainable Investments 4.0" directive to help SMEs in Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Molise, Apulia, Sicily, and Sardinia with their technological and digital transformation, competitiveness, and long-term growth. The measure's budget is 300,488,426.61 euros.
The facilities specifically address programmes that must contribute to the achievement of climate and environmental objectives, make the production process more sustainable and circular, improve the company's sustainability and energy savings, or facilitate the proposed company's technological and digital transition. All of this will be accomplished through enabling technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, the internet of things and industrial internet, cloud computing, cybersecurity, big data and analytics, advanced manufacturing solutions, additive manufacturing, simulation, and augmented reality.
The expenditure must be between 750,000 and 5 million euros and may include the purchase of machinery, plant, and new equipment, masonry work, IT programs, environmental certifications, and specialised consulting services.
The subsidies cover up to 75% of eligible expenses. Contributions for plant and equipment, as well as subsidised finance, will be used without regard to company size. Subsidies will be granted and accessed through an assessment method, which will be conducted over the counter.
