Energy transition, new agreement between CDP and the Ministry of Enterprise

Nuova intesa tra CDP e Ministero delle Imprese

The Cassa Depositi e Prestiti is providing advisory services to the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy (MIMIT) as part of a memorandum of understanding signed to conduct an analysis of the sustainability and resilience of critical raw materials value chains required for the energy and digital transition.

This intervention has to be considered within the framework of the Critical Raw Materials Action Plan and the European Commission's European Raw Materials Alliance (ERMA) and, subsequently, the entry into force of EU Regulation 2024/1252 (Critical Raw Materials Act, CRMA). The partnership is realised thanks to the resources made available by the European Union under the InvestEU Programme and by CDP itself.

In its role as Advisory Partner of the European Commission, Cassa Depositi e Prestiti will support the Ministry in analysing best practices at the international level; in this way, tit will be able to identify enabling factors and possible solutions adaptable to the Italian industrial system, as well as ensuring the sustainability and resilience of the supply of critical raw materials. The activity will focus on in-depth study of the issues of extraction, refining, production and recycling, with specific reference to the energy and digital transition, to find opportunities for intervention to support Italian industry in the segments of this strategic value chain.

Specific market analyses will be carried out aimed at understanding the strategies and business models pursued in this area by some EU Member States, other non-EU countries and the main industrial and economic operators, as well as with the identification of competitive scenarios for the national context.
