On March 7th in Metternich Palace in Vienna, home of the Embassy of Italy, a workshop on the food sector dedicated to Made in Italy and the possibility for Italian companies to deal with local operators will be held. The initiative is part of the South Export Plan 2, is funded by the Ponic funds and is aimed at SMEs of less developed regions, namely Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Puglia and Sicily, and those in transition, Abruzzo, Molise and Sardinia.

Agri-food products make up almost 11.5% of Austrian imports from Italy. Italian niche products are successful and gain ground compared to traditional foods on the tables on the banks of the Danube. In particular for the products of the medium, medium-high and luxury market segment, Austrian specialty food shops, which import directly, are potential customers and partners. In Austria, large retailers are specialized by type of goods, while there are relatively few multi-sector department stores. In recent years, however, the large Austrian distribution has undergone a strong process of concentration.

The workshop will be dedicated to non-pre-established B2B meetings with local operators. Each company will be provided with a table to exhibit and present their products. The promotion mainly concerns products made in Italy of high quality and high added value, regional traditional food and PDO/IGP products, organic foods and craft products. Particular attention will be paid to the following product categories: oil, wine, cheese, processed and preserved vegetables, confectionery and bakery products.

To participate, firms must complete the online application form. At the end of the registration, ICE will send a confirmation e-mail with the attached application form, which must be printed, stamped, signed and sent to pecagroindustria@cert.ice.it
